Mij Sezzin's Obituary
Mij Sezzin, 75, passed away suddenly on May 17, 2017 at her home in Fort Myers, FloridaOriginally from New York City, she graduated from the Bronx High School of Science and met her future husband, Macy Sezzin, during her freshman year at Boston University. After a whirlwind romance, they were married and moved to North Miami, Florida, where she helped him establish a thriving optometry practice. She worked side by side with him daily for forty years, serving as optician and office manager.Over the years, Mij earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Barry University and a Masters degree in Counseling from Florida International University. When Macy retired, Mij began a second career as a geriatric counselor for the North Miami Senior Foundation, where she worked for several years.In 2001, Mij and Macy’s desire for adventure led them to relocate to Costa Rica, where they enjoyed an active social life until Mij was widowed in 2009 after 50 years of marriage. Mij stayed in Costa Rica for several more years, and then returned to the United States, settling in Fort Myers, Florida.Mij enjoyed playing bridge, attending community theatre, traveling the world, cooking and dining out with friends. She owned thousands off books, and was an avid reader.She is survived by daughter Pamela Sezzin Zinner, son-in-law Jonathan Zinner, grandson Avery Zinner, all of Fountain Valley, CA; sister Ricki Davis and brother-in-lar Rob Davis, nephew Nicholas Krievins and grandnephew Edward Krievins and many lifelong friends.
