Morris D. Gardner, 99, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on November 1, 2010 after a full and meaningful life. ?á Morrie was born in New York City on March 11, 1911 and lived in Rochester, NY until retiring to Florida in 1976.?á?á He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Esther (Schwartz); children Dr. David (Marilyn) Gardner of Fort Myers, FL, Dr. Lawrence (Joy Hutchins) Gardner of Farmingdale, NJ and Naomi Kaffee of Rockville, MD; grandchildren, Nancy (Edward Gordon) Gardner, Robin (Richard) Douglass, Steven (Brenda) Ganot, Daniel Gardner and Julianne Gardner, Ethan, Elliott and Elizabeth Kaffee and eight great-grandchildren.?á He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Michael Gardner and his four brothers, Samuel Gonotsky, Abraham, Jack, and Irving Gardner.A graduate of St. John?ÇÖs Law School, Morrie had a long career in Civil Service and private law practice.?á He worked for the State of New York in various positions starting in 1938 in Ithaca, New York until his retirement in 1972 from the Motor Vehicle Department in Rochester.?á His private law practice continued in Rochester at the firm of Lacy and Katzen until he moved to Century Village in Deerfield Beach, Florida in 1976. ?á Funeral services and interment will take place on Friday, November 5, 2010 in Rochester, New York.?á Memorial donations may be made to the Jewish Federation of Lee and Charlotte Counties, the Alzheimer?ÇÖs Association or a charity of the donor?ÇÖs choice. ?áArrangements are being handled by Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.?á Online condolences may be made at fortmyersmemorial.com.
