Myles McDoanld's Obituary
Myles McDonald, 75, a cherished resident of Fort Myers, Florida since 1997 and formerly of Newark, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 11, 2024. Born on November 15, 1948, in Newark, New Jersey, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (nee Burns) McDonald.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Myles dedicated 27 years of service as a Captain on Truck #5 with the Newark Fire Department. His bravery and commitment to serving others were hallmarks of his character.
Myles found his lifelong high school sweetheart in Newark, marrying his beloved wife, JoAnn, and together they shared 53 years of unwavering partnership and love. His big heart and generous spirit made him a beacon of light.
Myles’s legacy is one of honor, courage, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire.
Myles is survived by his wife, JoAnn McDonald of Fort Myers, FL; two children, Jimmy McDonald and Diana McDonald; one granddaughter, Lexi; as well as one sister, Lynn Camporeale and her husband, Ray.
A Graveside Service will be celebrated from 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to New Jersey Fireman Home, 565 Lathrop Avenue, Boonton, NJ 07005 in loving memory of Myles McDonald.
