Myrtle S. Miller's Obituary
Myrtle S. Miller, 89, of Sarasota, formerly of North Fort Myers, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 following an extended illness. She was born February 24, 1927 in Decatur, GA to Clarence J. and Valda Faye (Murray) Whigham. She moved to Fort Myers in the 40’s from Georgia where she lived until moving in with her son in Sarasota in 2008. She retired as office manager for Roger D. Scott, MD after 40 years of service. She was a former member of Riverside Baptist Church in Fort Myers. Mrs. Miller is survived by her children: Donald A. Strickland (Marlene) of Sarasota, Jatana Vanek of Columbia, MD and Jonathan D. Miller (Mary Lou) of North Fort Myers; her grandchildren: Shelly Linthicum, Karen Andrle (Scott), Matthew Miller (Jennifer) and Molly Miller; her great grandchildren: Sydney, Clay, Jordan, Austin, Amanda, Justin and Trinity. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold V. Miller in 1996, her son, Roger A. Strickland in 1985 and her son-in-law, Eric Vanek in 2015. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Saturday, June 11, 2016 in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907, 239-936-0555, with burial to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
