Nancy Rose Albano's Obituary
Nancy Rose Albano of St. Petersburg, Florida and a longtime former resident of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024. She was born on April 7, 1933 in Ponza, Italy to Domenico and Filomena Mazzella. Nancy grew up in the Bronx, New York and there met and married her wonderful husband, Frank Albano.
Nancy was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Louis Albano, JoAnn Fraidenburg (Bill), and Debra Gottschalk (Scot). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Amy Lester (Ryan), Lisa Kunde (Kenny), Laura Higgins (Sam), Solé Rivera, Gina Gottschalk and Tony Gottschalk. Five great-grandchildren Amelia, Haleigh, Lucas, Kinsley and Logan will also miss their dear “Nonna.” Devoted sister Louise Contegiacomo and brother-in-law, Umberto Contegiacomo also survive Nancy. A host of other cherished relatives and friends survive her.
Shortly after marriage, Nancy and Frank opened and ran a successful “Albano’s Restaurant and Pizzeria,” in Detroit, Michigan for over 20 years. They moved to Cape Coral, Florida in the seventies because Frank loved the Florida sun. They proceeded to open another thriving business ”Rattan Fantasy” because Frank loved building rattan furniture. After retirement, Frank and Nancy really enjoyed the Florida lifestyle- boating, clamming, crabbing, cruising and going to their Fort Myers Beach time-share with family and friends. After 58 years of marriage, Frank passed. Nancy continued to live independently in her beloved waterfront home that she and her husband built for 10 more years. Then she decided to move to St. Petersburg, Florida to live with her son Louis and to be closer to family. Nancy’s life revolved around her parents, husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and beloved friends. She loved to cook and bake, making many recipes passed down by her parents and in-laws. She enjoyed doing Soduku puzzles, watching the “Price is Right,” and dining with friends and family.
A Visitation for Nancy will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Immediately thereafter, a Funeral Service for Nancy celebrated by Deacon Jim Tesoriero will take place also inside the funeral home chapel. At the conclusion of this ceremony, family and friends will recess to the adjacent cemetery where Nancy will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband Frank at the Mausoleum located inside the Hall of Crucifixion.
Nancy will be greatly missed and she will be in our hearts forever. To share a story or photo, leave a tribute or to offer condolences to the family at this difficult time, please visit her memorial webpage located at www.fortmyersmemorial.com and sign her guestbook.
