Nancy Ellen Forbes' Obituary
Nancy Ellen Forbes, 70, a 20 year resident of Fort Myers, FL formerly of Jaffrey, NH passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 after an extended illness. She was born November 23, 1950 in Long Branch, NJ to the late Judge Bertram and Sylvia Gaynor.
Nancy was an educator, caregiver, animal lover, and dear friend. She graduated from Asbury Park High School in 1968. She attended Fairleigh Dickinson University earning her degree in Elementary Education from Boston University. Besides NJ, Nancy lived in the suburbs of Boston, and Jaffrey, New Hampshire, settling in Fort Myers Florida. Nancy had many talents and enjoyed a variety of careers including educator, tutor, substitute teacher, day care provider, running a medical coding and transcription business, owning a pet shop, and taught a series of adult education classes in basic computer literacy. She worked for a time in the hospitality industry at the Woodbine Inn in Jaffrey, NH as well as two other local hotels. And she even worked in an independent/semi-assisted living senior apartment complex. She enjoyed chatting with the seniors and helping make their day easier. While living in Florida she worked for a tutoring service and found it very satisfying to work 1:1 with her students to assist them in improving their skills to pass the Florida state assessments. Nancy love word puzzles, true crime stories, reading and collecting Cherry Ames and Sal Fischer children’s books. Nancy had a devoted friend in her Border Collie, Barney and over the years had many beautiful cats including many foster cats. She adopted a number of blind cats for whom she cared for. Her most recent cats were Scarlet and Petza. Nancy valued friendships and those she befriended she cared deeply for and would do anything for them.
Nancy is survived by her loving sisters, Lauren Edgerly (James) of Cape Coral, FL and Robin Krefetz (Marc) of Hainesport, NJ; three beloved nephews, Jonah Edgerly (Peter Burger) of Leeds, UK, Scott Krefetz of Wilmington, DL and Alex Krefetz of Washington, DC; as well as some very dear friends, especially Denny, Sis, Jackie, and Judy.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, May 3, 2021 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL with Rabbi Luna as the officiant.
