Nancy Lee Haas-Dreyer's Obituary
Nancy Haas-Dreyer, 83, passed away on January 13, 2021 at her home in North Fort Myers, Florida. She is survived by her half-sister Patricia Haas Lemon and her family; nieces and nephews Cynthia Magill, Nancy Dantzig, Hugh Haas, Fredrick Haas and Diana Haas, their spouses, children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her husband Bob’s four children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert Dreyer, her brother Thomas Haas and her nephew Thomas Clark Haas Jr.
Nancy was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 18, 1937 to Edythe Mullen Haas and Antone Frederick Haas and spent most of her childhood in Rosemont, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Newton College and completed graduate work at Boston University. Nancy’s life was spent in service to others which she did with compassion and a steely determination that everyone get equal care, kindness and attention. She spent 15 years teaching as a R.S.C.J. and then transitioned into working as a certified Social Worker in Massachusettes where she met the love of her life and future husband, Robert (Bob) Dryer. Upon moving with Bob to Fort Myers, Florida in 1986 she worked for Charlotte County for 10 years as a Social Worker. The remainder of her life was spent in volunteer work at area recreational centers, rehabilitation centers, hospitals and nursing homes. In the last several years that volunteer work was done with her beloved little dog, “MyTai” who she had gone through training with so that the dog could receive certification as a therapy dog.
Nancy will be forever remembered as a kind soul with a great sense of humor and mischief who loved and was devoted to her family and close friends. She was always the first to lend a helping hand, words of wisdom and encouragement. She reminded those she loved that she had no regrets of anything major in her life believing that time spent regretting was a waste of time. She believed that each day must be lived well for that is all we have. She encouraged those who loved her to not cry for her upon her passing as she would be reunited with those she loved who had passed before her and there to welcome home those who came after her.
As per Nancy’s request all arrangements will be private.
