Nicholas A. Lioce's Obituary
Nicholas A. Lioce of North Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully in his home Monday, October 17, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was 83. Nick was born May 10, 1933 in Astoria, Queens, New York to the late Sabino and Natalie Lioce. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. In 2009, Nick was instrumental in planning, constructing and placing “A Tribute to a Soldier”; the statue in Echo Park in Cape Coral portraying a soldier saluting a small boy. The boy, saluting the soldier back, represents freedom and shows appreciation for the sacrifices those in service make for their country. He enjoyed playing billiards at the Del Tura Golf and Country Club. Nick was also an active member of the Bocce Club in Cape Coral. Nick is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Teresa; he is also survived by his three children, Teresa’s three daughters and her son; his two brothers, and two sisters. Nick also leaves behind his eighteen grandchildren and one great grandson. He was a loving husband, devoted father, dear brother, beloved grandfather and treasured friend who will be dearly missed. Visitation will be 10am until 12noon followed by funeral services at 12noon Monday, October 24, 2016 in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907. Immediately following the services, he will be laid to rest with U.S. Navy Honors in the Devotion Garden section of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
