Nicholas Slepchuk's Obituary
Nicholas Slepchuk passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025, with his wife Beatrice and daughter Nadine by his side. Born on April 16, 1931, in Springfield, Massachusetts, to Ignatius and Malina (Dorokoptecz) Slepchuk, Nicholas leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and laughter.
Nick graduated from Springfield Trade High School where he was a star football player. He then went on to serve his country with honor as a proud Marine. Nick continued his commitment to his community as a respected police sergeant in the Springfield Massachusetts Police Department. His steadfast courage and dedication touched countless lives, and his sense of duty was an inspiration to many.
Those who knew Nicholas will remember his infectious smile, love for a good party, and his joy in playing poker. Nick met the love of his life, Beatrice, at a dance hall 74 years ago. He loved polish music and could dance a mean Polka. This past February, Nick and Bea celebrated their sixty ninth wedding anniversary. Nick will be remembered with a Crown Royal in one hand and a good cigar in the other.
Nick’s greatest accomplishment was his love of family. He was extremely close with his brothers and sisters; family gatherings were everything to him. Nick and his beloved wife, Beatrice, embraced their adventurous spirit as snowbirds for many years before settling in Florida, making it their forever home 20 years ago.
Nicholas was predeceased by his son Nicholas Jr and by his brothers Stephen, Peter, Walter, sisters Malania, Alice, Anne, and Mary.
Nicholas is survived by his wife Beatrice, daughter Nadine Ginsberg and Martin of Laconia, NH and Marco Island Fl, daughter in-law Lori Slepchuk of Southbridge, MA, three granddaughters Jessica Wilson (John), Elizabeth Slepchuk and Kimberly Ginsberg, and great granddaughter Evelyn Grace Wilson. Nick was so happy to recently learn that he was going to have a second great grandchild, baby boy Wilson. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his laughter, infectious smile, warmth, and unwavering spirit.
Nick’s burial will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, Massachusetts with military honors on June 6th at 9 am.
One of the most memorable moments of Nick’s last year was participating in an Honor Flight with his son-in-law Martin. This charitable organization transports our veterans to Washington to visit the memorials that honor their service and sacrifice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Collier-Lee Honor Flight honoring Nicholas's and all our veteran’s legacy of service. https://www.collierhonorflight.org Please use the comment or notes section to state that the donation is in memory of Nicholas Slepchuk.
