Nick Roger Baker's Obituary
Nick Roger Baker of Cape Coral, Florida passed away peacefully at home while under Hospice care after a courageous fight with cancer. He was 59 years old.
Nick was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on May 9, 1965, the proud son to Mercedes (Bajana) and Carl Richard Baker. Nick and his family moved to Southwest Florida in the mid-1980's and Nick was shortly thereafter hired by Publix Supermarket at Camelot Isles in Cape Coral where he enjoyed a 30 plus year career as a Bakery Associate. Nick was a favorite of the regular shoppers at the store and especially to their many children and grandchildren who Nick was able make happy as the official Publix Cookie Club dispenser.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Mercedes Baker, sister Catherine Drake and her husband Shane and his beloved niece Amelia Rose Drake all of Cape Coral. He also leaves behind a large extended family including his Uncle Ezio Villegas of Ecuador; Aunts Cristina Uzca of Ecuador, Dalila and Ruth Villegas of Spain, Sylvia Villegas of the United Kingdom and Joyce Dick-Peddie of California. Nick will also be warmly remembered and fondly missed by his many friends and the countless others he met along life's journey.
A Funeral Service for Nick will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 25, 2024 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Guests will be received for Visitation in the hour preceding this ceremony beginning at 1:00 PM also inside the funeral home chapel. At the conclusion of these services, guests will recess to adjacent Memorial Gardens Cemetery where Nick will be laid to rest inside the Gethsemane Garden.
