Norma Benetta Bierce's Obituary
Norma B. Bierce, a long-time resident of Fort Myers, passed away on February 18th, 2021 following an extended illness. She fought bravely to the end and passed peacefully at home with her family at her side.
Norma was born on September 4, 1934 to William Paul and Lois Stevenson. On June 5, 1955, she married Beaufort (Beau) Bierce and together they had three children: Brenda, Randy, and Pam. They were also blessed with four grandchildren: Eric, Beau, Luke and Gretchen; one great-granddaughter, Harlow, and a new great-grandson or great granddaughter on the way.
Norma worked for the City of Fort Myers for 35 years as a manager in the Utilities Department. She loved serving the Lord and was a very active member of Central United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School for 47 years, served as the church’s financial secretary, acted as treasurer of the Women’s Group, sang in the choir, and volunteered at the church thrift store. She also attended Grace Brethren Church in her later years.
Norma enjoyed yard work and took great pride in cleaning and organizing her home. She was always happy to help anyone else in that manner, as well. Her considerate ways and loving personality impacted a great many people during her life. She truly was an angel on earth and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Norma is survived by her husband of nearly 66 years, Beaufort (Beau) R. Bierce; three children, Brenda McIntire (Ron Threinen), Randy Bierce (Rose Mauro), and Pam Bierce (Randy Phinney); four grandchildren, Eric McIntire, Beau Bierce, Luke Bierce, and Gretchen Bierce; and one great granddaughter, Harlow McIntire. She is also survived by sisters Ruth and Betty, and brother, Robert. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Lois Stevenson; sisters Margaret “Mickey”, Ethel, and Mary Belle; and brothers Tom and Bill.
