Norman "Denny" Johns Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Norman “Denny” Johns Sr., age 87, a long-time resident of the Ft. Myers area and recently of Blairsville, Ga. passed away peacefully on Thursday July 16, 2026, following an extended illness. Mr. Johns was born on January 2, 1939 in Wauchula, Fl., the son of the late Clyde Johns and the late Clarice Moore Johns.
Denny was a veteran of the US Navy and an expert auto, boat, and diesel mechanic. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great and great-great grandfather. He loved NASCAR, vintage cars, football, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Blairsville Cruisers and past president of the Good Neighbors Car Club in Murphy, N.C. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Johns, a great granddaughter, Tracy Smith, and two sisters, Linda Vanacore and Martha Diaz. Mr. Johns was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving Mr. Johns are his loving wife and best friend of sixty-eight years, Carole Feight Johns of Blairsville, Ga., one son, Norman D. Johns, Jr. of Sacramento, Ca. one daughter, Jennifer Lee Johns of Blairsville Ga., daughter in law, Angie Durham of Fort Myers, five grandchildren, Jenny (& James) Platt of Alva, Ralph Morgan of Lehigh Acres, Madison (& Jonah McStravic) Johns and Kailyn Johns of Fort Myers, and Nathan (& Brittany) Johns of Buffalo, N.Y.
A funeral service will be held at the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday July 24, 2026 at 1pm. Interment will follow in the adjacent Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Flowers are accepted, or if you wish, donations may be made in Mr. Johns memory to help defray expenses.
