APRIL 10, 2009It is with great sadness that the Whitesman Family bids farewell to Norman I. Whitesman. Norm, a current resident of Fort Myers, was born on January 21, 1926 in Baltimore, Maryland and was raised in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.He married Gloria June Rothstein on September 4, 1949, and through their more than 59 years of marriage parented three sons, Barney, Guy and David and three grandchildren, Louie, Joey and Jena. His loving wife, three sons, three grandchildren, Barney’s wife, Marla, Guy’s wife, Ilene, and his sister, Irma and his niece, Shelly, were all at his side on his last day in this World.Norm, a veteran of WWII, served in the U.S. Army and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He returned to marry, graduate college from the University of Pittsburgh, with a degree in business administration and spent a career in retail management.Funeral services will be graveside at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, at Noon, Sunday, April 12, 2009. Rabbi Jeremy Barras will officiate. Memorial Gifts should be made to The Jewish Federation of Lee and Charlotte Counties or Hope Hospice.
