Norvella L. De Lany's Obituary
Norvella Lawing Drum De Lany of North Fort Myers, FL and formerly of Hickory, NC, passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, February 6, 2016. She was 89. Norvella was born April 3, 1926 in Hickory, NC, the beautiful daughter of the late Webb Lawing and Edna Lawing Starnes. She was strong in her faith and belonged to the First Baptist Church of Hickory, NC where she was deacon and a member of the Christian Women’s Club. Norvella also belonged to the First Alliance Church of Decatur, GA and the Cornerstone Bible Church of Lilburn, GA. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and dear grandmother who will be sorely missed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Julius Clifton Drum and her brother, John Lawing, both from Hickory, NC. Norvella is survived by her husband, Curtis Ingram “Jack” De Lany of Atlanta, GA and North Fort Myers, FL; her two children, Rickey Clifton Drum of Singer Island, FL and Kent Lawing Drum of Rock Hill, SC. She also leaves behind her grandchildren John Clifton Drum of Greer, SC, Jason Durant Drum of Knoxville, TN, Matt Lawing Drum of Greer, SC and Andrea Drum Rogers of Loris, SC. Visitation will be held from 1pm – 2pm with funeral services at 2pm at Bass-Smith Funeral Home 334 2nd Street NW, Hickory, NC 28603. She will be laid to rest immediately following services in the Catawba Cemetery, Hickory, NC. Memorials in her honor are suggested to Hope Hospice 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908 or Cornerstone Bible Church 869 Cole Dr. SW, Lilburn, GA 30047.
