Obie Preston Sims' Obituary
Pres lost his battle to cancer April 25th, 2016 in his family’s home located in Homosassa, Fl. He was 83. Pres was a ladies’ man; he loved to play pool, he was an avid karaoke enthusiast, & blonde joke connoisseur, He also was proud owner of Pres’ Mobile Home Service, which he operated in Fort Myers, Florida for many years. Pres was born on February 8th 1933 in Mobile, Alabama to Mr. Barney Leon Sims & Mrs. Mattie Seal Vanie Caro-Sims Preceding him in death are his brother’s Leon Thearl, Leland, and Morris, his step-son Son Jack, step-daughter Janet & his loving wife, Gloria June Sims (Diekma) (Gay) Together with Gay they leave behind son Jeff, 3 grandchildren including grandchild Georgia who loved and has taken such good care of him in his final days, also 5 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren & several cousins. Pres is also survived sister Mary Alice Morrison and 4 children from his first marriage with Beverly Jean Sims, Cheryl Pringle, Jennie Hellman, Brenda Sharlow, and Kevin Sims. With them he has 10 Grandchildren & 14 Great-Grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 29, 2016 at Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. Entombment will be located at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens where he will be laid to rest next to his Wife Gay.
