Pat Verrone's Obituary
Devoted and much-loved husband, father, and grandfather, Pasquale “Pat” Verrone passed away on Tuesday morning following a lingering illness. Born in Brooklyn, New York, January 14, 1926, the sixth of seven children of Pasquale Verrone and Mamie Monaco Verrone. He attended PS 145 elementary school and George Westinghouse High School in Brooklyn. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II from March, 1944 to April 1946, honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. He studied optical instrument design and timepiece mechanics and worked in the engineering departments of the American Bosch Arma Corp., Holmes Electric Protective Co., and Pan American World Airlines in New York; and JAN Crystals in Ft. Myers. On August 20, 1955 he married Edna Miller and together they raised three children. They were married for 57 years until her death in 2013. He was an active member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Community, belonged to several trade unions, as well as the Knights of Columbus. An avid home and car “fix-it man,” he enjoyed watching baseball, football, tennis, and, most of all, the stock market. He is survived by his three children, Patric (Maiya), Phyllis (John), and Michael; sister Anne; nieces Marie, Patti, and Stephanie (John); nephews Carl (Margie) and Richard (Karen); grandchildren Patric Carroll, Marianne, and Teddy; step-grandchildren Myles, Joshua, and Zachary; step-great-grandchild Griffin; and granddogs Roxy, Oliver, and Leo. Friends and family will be received at Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, on Saturday from 2 to 4 pm, and Sunday from 2 to 5 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, October 12 at St. Cecilia’s, 5632 Sunrise Drive with entombment to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s name to Catholic Charities USA.
