Patricia (Pat) Humfleet Mellor
Patricia passed away Dec 14, 2024, at Ft. Myers, FL, at age 98. She was born in Barbourville, KY, the daughter of the late Daniel M Humfleet and the former Bessie Donaldson, and she resided in Lee County since 1942. She graduated from Fort Myers High School and attended Thomas Alva Edison College.
Pat was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fort Myers, Chapter B, P. E. O., Nicholas Meriwether Chapter of Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century, previous member of Chapter Nineteen of Colonial Dames of America, member and past Regent of the Caloosahatchee Chapter, NSDAR., member of Daughters of the American Colonists, and Daughters of 1812. For many years she was an officer and a director of the Lee County Conservation Association, Inc. She was active in the real estate business as a salesperson with Barbara B. Cummings, Realtor, during the 1980s. In the 1950s she and her husband lived at Fort Myers Beach where she took part in civic activities of that community. She was an avid genealogist, having been a member of numerous genealogical and historical societies and maintaining correspondence with many people across the United States. In 1999 she published a book: The Humfleet Family and Associated Families of Sasser, Kirby, Tuttle, Sprinkle, Langley, Chesnut, Gilbert, Waggoner, and Bass (400 pages, hard cover with index).
She is survived by her husband of 77 years (married 1947 in Fort Myers), William H. Mellor, daughters: Catherine Carter (William) of Jacksonville, FL, Barbara Mellor of Highlands, North Carolina, three grandchildren: Fred and Mike Carter of Jacksonville, and Daniel Bowles of Tampa, six great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Mica Davies), Madison, Nathan, and Lily Carter, Sofie and Sadie Bowles, and one great-great-grandchild, Carter Davies. Pat was predeceased by her son John F. Mellor, two sisters: Violet Reese (Charles D., Sr.) of Louisville, KY, and Bernice Aguilera (Dr. Henry J.) of Natchitoches, LA.
Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Colonial Boulevard will oversee arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
