My husband and I first met Father Toner in 1988 while joining the Church of the Resurrection. Father was always so jovial and kind. At the pulpit he used his wonderful sense of humor which I thought helped to understand the gospel more clearly. We always looked forward to going to mass on Sundays and Holidays, hoping he would be there.
In 1989, Father married my husband, John, and I. He also Blessed my parents’ marriage. Sadly, He also performed the funeral masses of my mother and father. I guess you would say that he was our “family priest”!
Many times, when I needed spiritual help, Father would always be there for me.
John and I have since moved away from Ft. Myers to Northern Florida and lost touch with Father Toner. Between Christmas and Easter cards we aways tried to stay connected. We missed him and the Church.
John and I will always remember Father Toner and will miss him. He is with God now, God bless you, Father Toner.
