Paul Archibald Cooper's Obituary
Paul Archibald Cooper, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away on October 7, 2013. Our beloved Paul Archibald Cooper was born on a farm near Center Point, Iowa, on January 8, 1924. After attending Iowa State College, he entered the Army as a private and was commissioned a second lieutenant in Fontainebleau, France in 1945. He rose to the rank of Colonel and retired to Fort Myers, Florida in 1973. During his retirement, he devoted a great deal of time and talent to improving and helping the community. He served on several county-wide committees and was past president of the Lee County Mission Board in Harlem Heights. In addition, he was President Emeritus of Habitat for Humanity of Lee County, and served as a president of Myerlee Country Club and remained as President Emeritus. In his earlier years, he was active in his church, serving on committees when called upon. Paul was a very outgoing dear friend of many. His hand was out to all whom he came in contact. He always had a timely joke to tell, and they were always related to the situation at hand. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Paul leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Beverly, a son, Paul (Vikki) Cooper of Alexandria, Virginia and a daughter, Karen (Bob) Bazzle of Alexandria, Virginia and a stepson, James (Ann) Osterling of Fort Myers, as well as two granddaughters and two step-grandsons. Paul also leaves a sister, Enid (Alan) Sloan of San Clemente, California and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
