Paul Thomas Smith's Obituary
Paul Thomas Smith passed away on the morning of Tuesday March, 15, 2022 at his home in
Cape Coral. Paul was surrounded by loved ones during his final weeks and at peace at the
time of death.
He is survived by his beautiful and loving wife of 65 years, Marilyn Smith, daughters Patti
Fisher (Jeff), Lori Smith, Terri Yeager (Bob), Cristi Haytac (Kamil) and daughter by choice Carol
Lentz; Seven grandchildren Jamie Cintron (Victor), Kelli Morris (Shaun), Nicole Yeager (Alec),
Robbie Yeager, Paul Macedonia, Preston Haytac, and Bryce Haytac; and four great grand
children Greyson Cintron, Hunter Cintron, Presley Morris and Piper Morris.
Paul was a pillar of every community of which he was a part. First by serving in the United
States Military for three years and then in Management with the Bell Telephone Company in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After 35 years working at Bell Telephone he was able to retire at the
early age of 53. In retirement he continued to work part time at golf courses in Pittsburgh
(Venango) and Cape Coral (Cape Coral Country Club) as well as volunteering at the polls during
elections, being a proverbial “fix-it” man for anyone who needed it, and spending time with his
many friends and family. He was the greatest example to everyone he met on how to treat
others, how to listen, and how to be a kind and stalwart spirit in all aspects of life.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, shooting, reading, watching Steelers football, and using
his brilliant mind to win Jeopardy on a nightly basis. He will be forever remembered for being a
special man of exceptional character, quick witted humor, engaging storytelling ability and a
generous, warm, loving, loyal and family-centric husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather
and friend. He was preceded in death by his mother Mildred Smith, father Joseph Banard Smith, and
Grandson Gregory Yeager.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at St. Katherine Drexel, 1922 SW 20th Ave., Cape Coral, FL 33991.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the American Cancer Society and/or Hope
