Pauline A. Gyarmathy's Obituary
Pauline A. Gyarmathy of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in Hope Hospice after some recent health challenges. She was 98. Pauline was born June 27, 1918 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada; the beloved daughter of the late Damien and Elodie Gourd. In 1962, in St. Petersburg, Florida, she and her husband, Steve, opened one of the first Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises. She was an active member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Community. Pauline was a shining example of the best qualities of the human race; always humble, honest, thoughtful, generous, caring and loving. Those who knew her well would agree, she conveyed incredible style and grace throughout her life. Many of the kids referred to her as “Cookie Granma” for her incredible baking skills. She was a person well worth knowing and having in your life. She will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, Pauline is preceded in death by her loving husband of 64+ years, Steve Gyarmathy (1999). She was the devoted mother of three children; Gary Gyarmathy, Jim Gyarmathy (Deborah) and Carolyn Neff (Brad).
