Peter Bitume's Obituary
Mr. Peter Bitume of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away peacefully in his home with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. He was 59. Peter was born February 7, 1958 in the Bronx, New York.Peter was a proud graduate of Florida State University – Go Seminoles! He worked 27+ years as a police officer with the Miami Beach Police Department and was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Police. After his retirement as a Lieutenant in 2008, he and his family moved to Southwest Florida where he enjoyed the many opportunities this area has to offer.Peter was a baseball fanatic and thoroughly enjoyed the spring training season / Grapefruit League games across Florida. He was an avid fisherman enjoying the quiet moments on the water and the plentiful opportunities to fish throughout the region. His passion, however, was his family. He deeply enjoyed time spent together; especially time with his three grandchildren.Peter leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 35+ years, Blanca Bitume; their son, Anthony Bitume and his wife, Kelly. He is also survived by his mother, Sandra Silverman and his three cherished grandchildren, Anthony, Jr., Isabella and Dominic. He was a beloved husband, a devoted father, loving grandfather and dear friend. He will be dearly missed.A visitation will be held 12:00 noon until 3:00 pm Saturday, August 19, 2017 in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33907.
