Peter Nick Ciampa's Obituary
Peter Nick Ciampa of Fort Myers, passed peacefully on May 27, 2025 at home in Punta Gorda, FL. Peter was born on May 31, 1931 to his parents Pietro Ciampa and Teresa Mosca in Dudley, PA. His parents came to the US in the 1920’s from Assergi, Italy. Both of his parents died when he was very young. His aunt, Concetta Scarcia moved to Detroit, MI and raised their children.
Peter graduated from Cass Technical High School in Detroit in 1949. Between high school and enlisting in the Navy, he got his pilot license and loved flying.
In 1951, he enlisted in the Navy. He fought in the Korean War. He was part of the Air Anti-Submarine Squadron and Aircraft radio. He received the following medals. United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was Honorably Discharged on May 2, 1955.
Peter & Maureen Wickett were married on July 30, 1955. They moved to Florida in 1956 when Peter’s cousin asked him to come work with Michigan Homes. Peter worked at Michigan Homes from 1956 until he finally retired in 2016 as Senior Vice President. He was loved by all the people he built homes for.
He was a skilled craftsman and built many toys and furniture for his children and grandchildren. He entered several of them in the Lee County Fair at Terry Park and won several ribbons for them.
He loved waterskiing and taught all his children and many others to ski at the lake house he built on Lake Francis in Lake Placid.
Peter loved coaching baseball. He coached the Yankees and the Cubs for many years at Billy Bowlegs Stadium. He had a Babe Ruth team at Terry Park, and he also coached baseball at Bishop Verot High School while his son, Ron, attended there.
He was an amazing father and poppy and loved by all and will be missed.
Peter is preceded in death by his wife, Maureen A. Ciampa. Parents, Pietro and Teresa. Also by his brother, Nunday Ciampa, his sisters Mary Angelo and Pauline Acitelli.
Peter is survived by his daughters; Kim Packard (Brian), Patricia Ciampa-Muske (Mark), Amy Ciampa, Nicole Clark (Terry), and son Ronald Ciampa (Vicki). Granddaughters, Brianne Packard (Nikki), Brittany Packard, Brandi Packard, Crysten Blackburn (Darin) Jordan Muske, and Taylor Muske. Grandsons: Nicholas Clark (Haley), Caleb Clark (Krisi), Andrew Clark and Kip Long. Great-grandchildren: Jaylen Bryant, Mason Blackburn, Brodie Blackburn, Anna Lynn Clark and Parker Clark and his newest great-grandson, Cason Clark. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Maureen Ciampa.
His final arrangements are being handled by Fort Myers Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 12:00pm in the Large Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Blvd. Fort Myers, FL 33907. There will be a service starting at 1pm with a Military Internment to follow at the gravesite.
