Peter Gargano's Obituary
Peter Anthony Gargano, Jr., 79, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2013. Peter was born in Waukegan, Illinois, on October 11, 1934, to Peter and Mary Gargano. He married Cecile Rivelli on June 9, 1956, in North Chicago.They moved to Fort Myers in 1960. In 1965, Peter started Pioneer Real Estate which he continued until his death. In addition to being an active real estate broker for nearly fifty years, Peter developed two of the earliest condominium projects in Southwest Florida: Lake Lawn Condominiums and Town and River Condominiums, and owned several restaurants.Peter was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.Aside from his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his brother, Ciro; his sister, Marie DeSalvo; and his daughter, Lisa Gargano Combs.Peter is survived by his wife, Cecile M. Rivelli Gargano; his children, Tony (Jessie) Gargano, Peter Gargano III, Mary Jo (Steve) Merando and Frank Combs; ten (10) grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including his niece, Sandi, who was by his side until the end. The funeral will take place at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with a reception to follow at tony and Jessie Gargano’s home.
