Peter G. Tobia, 97, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011.?áHe was born June 29, 1913 in Belleville, New Jersey to the late Salvatore and Theresa (Sturchio) Tobia.?áHe is preceded in death by his grandson, Bobby. ?á Peter moved to Lee County in 1977 from Keansburg, New Jersey.?áHe served in the US Army as a Signal Intelligence Radio Operator during WWII.?áHe retired in 1971 after 32 years as a switch operator for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad in Hoboken, New Jersey. ?á He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars for the last 68 years.?áHe LOVED the New York Yankees!?áHe enjoyed his family, playing cards, casinos, horse races and gambling. ?á He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy; 3 daughters, Judi (Rich) Berry of Redding, California. Donna Ens of Fort Myers, Florida and Dottie (Bill) Bailey of Cape Coral, Florida; grandchildren, Jimmy, Michael, Tommy, David, Stephen, Richard and Lisa; and great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Bryce and Brooke. ?á Arrangements are being handled by Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.?áCondolences may be left at www.fortmyersmemorial.com.
