Philip Haigis Sr's Obituary
Philip Howard Haigis Sr., 60, of Lehigh Acres, Florida passed away this Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009. Philip was born and raised in Scarborough, Maine, the son of Philip John and Faith Elizabeth Haigis. A lifelong Maine resident until 2004, Philip was a Navy Veteran of Vietnam and was most recently employed by the Lee County Sheriff’s Department in Florida. Philip was a 1967 graduate of Scarborough High school and a 1970 graduate of the Wentworth Institute of Technology. He was an avid coin collector, a former coach of his sons’ baseball teams, a fan of the Boston Red Sox, an enthusiastic amateur golfer with his brothers, and a member of the local Harley Davidson owners group. He especially enjoyed his time with his granddaughter.Philip is survived by his two sons; Philip Haigis Jr. and wife Meleesa of Arizona and Michael Haigis and granddaughter Audrey Haigis of Florida; his three brothers, Peter and his wife Susan Haigis, Russell and his wife Monique Haigis all of Florida, and Alan and his wife Rose Haigis of Maine. Philip will be laid to rest at the Rock Hill cemetery in Foxborough, Massachusetts with his parents.A local service will be provided this Saturday, April 18th by the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens at 1589 Colonial Boulevard Fort Myers, Florida from 12-2:30 PM. The family has asked that any donations be made to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
