Phyllis Alberta Haight's Obituary
Phyllis Haight, from North Port, Florida and Carp Lake, Michigan. Formerly of Mason, Michigan. Passed away January 25, 2018 at the age of 91. She was born at home on the family farm, the daughter of Eugene and Mary Alberta (Gretton) Lyon. She attended the Walters School a one room schoolhouse through the eighth grade and then went to Mason High School where she graduated in 1945. She was active in local 4H clubs as a youth. After high school, Phyllis worked at Wyeth Laboratories for a few years where she met and married Richard Haight in 1948. They had two children Jean and Jim. Phyllis worked for many years retiring in 1982 from Michigan State University Telfarm where she was a keypunch operator. After retirement, Phyllis and Dick traveled between their homes in North Port, FL and Carp Lake, MI. Phyllis loved to keep busy. She loved to knit, ride bikes with her husband, tend to her dog, and upholster and refinish furniture. She was a very kind and loving person. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Jean and son-in-law Mike Linderman of Venice, FL and DeWitt, MI; her brother Leigh (Aggie) Lyon; her step grandchildren Sue (Jim) Pratt; Matt Linderman; Chris (Angel) Linderman; Mike Linderman; and Katie (Geoff) Green; 11 step great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard Haight; her son Jim Haight; her brother Bob and sister-in-law Phyllis Lyon; her sister Frances and brother-in-law Marvin Salisbury; her brother Frank and sister-in-law Janet Lyon; her brother-in-law Robert and his wife Ramona Haight; and her sister-in-law Suzanne and her husband Herb Whitaker. Rest in peace Mom.A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 am Friday, February 9, 2018 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL.
