Phyllis Mae Hefner's Obituary
Phyllis Mae Hefner, age 92, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025.
Born on May 21, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, Phyllis was the beloved daughter of the late James and Rose (Paradiso) Lecoure. Growing up in the Chicago suburbs as one of four girls, her family owned and operated Hi-Way Bakery, a well-known Italian bakery for decades. She continued her craft where she owned and operated a cherished neighborhood pizza place for over 30 years. In 1992, Phyllis and her beloved husband Floyd relocated to Fort Myers, embracing a new chapter in life by earning her real estate license and helping others find their homes in the Sunshine State.
Phyllis was a woman of many passions. She found joy in crocheting, tending to her plants, and playing cards and games with friends and family. Her warmth, creativity, and love for life touched everyone who knew her. She continued her love of baking and pizza making every chance she had.
She is survived by her loving children: James Bowen and wife Teresa of Steger, IL, Charles Bowen and wife Chrystelle of Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, Michael "Mick" Bowen of Fort Myers, FL, Rose Barton and husband Randy of Cape Coral, FL and Tina Hintz of Houston, TX.
She also leaves behind her sister, Sylvia Delcotto and husband Bob of Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren: Jimmy, Brittany, Dylan, Chrles Jr, Nicole, Krystal, and Jacob; ten great-grandchildren; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Hefner in 1996 and two siblings.
Her legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
