Phyllis W. Payne's Obituary
Phyllis W. Payne, 85, passed away July 30, 2013. She was born May 22, 1928 in Elmira, New York to the late Roy and Ora (Balmer) Welch. In addition to her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her son, Guy Douglas Payne; and sister, Carrie VanAtta. After being born and raised in Elmira, she relocated to Lee County in 1975. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Phyllis loved to crochet hats to send to Salt Lake City for new born babies around the world and locally. She also crocheted lap robes for Hospice patients. Phyllis also enjoyed cooking. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 63 years, Leroy; son, Robert and his wife Beverlee of Cape Coral; daughter, Jill and her husband Mark McGinnis of Fort Myers; sister, Esther Enright of Elmira, New York; grandchildren, Andrew, Stephen, Elizabeth and Darien; great-grandchildren, Josiah, Alivia and one on the way. There will be a funeral service on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3105 Broadway, Fort Myers. Interment will follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Condolences may be left online at www.fortmyersmemorial.com.
