Phyllis Stahl, loving mother and grandmother, died peacefully on February 10, 2021 in Fort Myers, Florida after a brief battle with lung cancer, having previously defeated breast cancer twice in decades past. She was 86. Born on Read Obituary
I worked with Phyllis when, as a volunteer, she performed much needed book repair at Lakes Library. She was always so pleasant and took the time to ask about my family and the health of my mother. I pray memories of this lovely person will bring peace to her family and friends.
Phyllis and I have been friends since we were 12 years old. We were witnesses to each other’s lives. I will miss her kindness and wisdom and curiosity and compassion —and —and —and—. There are no words!
We had the great fortune of dining with Phyllis many times on her trips to Los Angeles, and we witnessed the deep love she had for her family -- especially the grandchildren. It was always such a pleasure to gather around a table with her. Our hearts go out to all who knew and loved her. She will be missed.

We are so glad we got to spend a few Thanksgivings with Phyllis while she was visiting in Durham. She was such a warm person and so much fun to play games with and talk to about books. She lived a long, full life, and we know she will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with your family.

Aunt Phyllis was my second mom and there were many times especially during my teenage years and then again when my mom became ill where she was my shoulder to lean on, the warmth of her voice and the words that she said always made me feel better! Her and my mom were best friends since they were four and our families were intertwined throughout our lives. Please know that our hearts are saddened for your loss but I know she is at peace now. I am truly going to miss seeing Phyllis's smile every week when we went to Bingo together. It was such a short time ago. At least the end was quick for her. God bless her and her family.
