Pierre Philip Barrette's Obituary
Pierre Philip Barrette went to be with his heavenly father on June 21, 2014. He was born on January 18, 1940 to Paul A. Barrette and Cecile A. Peloquin in St. Louis, MO. His parents and one son Erich O. Barrette predeceased him. He married Linda Jane Jones on August 20, 1977. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Michael John Barrette of Port St. Lucie, FL and Matthew Paul Barrette of Hadley, MA; three sisters, Pauline Barrette of Seattle, Wa, Patricia Kennedy of Weymouth, MA and Marieanne Sestito of Hingham, MA; two brothers, John Pappalardo of Duxbury, MA and Mark Pappalardo of Whitman, MA. He has five grandchildren, Paul D. Barrette of Herrin, IL, Jackie Barrette and Nicole Barrette of West Frankfort, IL and Erich Barrette and Cynthia Barrette of Port St. Lucie, FL and two great grandsons, Kohen and Kollin of West Frankfort. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He spent his life in education and received his BS, MS and EdD degrees from the University of Massachusetts. He also received a MSLS from the University of Rhode Island. He taught at the high school level before teaching at James Madison University and retiring from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He was a pioneer at incorporating microcomputer technology into the classroom. Pierre was a member of the Gulf Coast Church of Christ, Fort Myers, FL. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from April 1957 at Boston Army Base, Mass. through December 1960 at McChord Air Force Base, Tacoma, WA. At his discharge he had attained the rank of Airman 2nd class (A2C). A memorial visitation will be held 10am-11am followed by a memorial service at 11am, Friday, June 27, 2014 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL. Placement with military honors will follow in the Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
