Rafael A. Delgado's Obituary
Rafael A. Delgado of Fort Myers, Florida and formerly of Brooklyn, New York, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 in Hope Hospice, HealthPark after some recent health challenges. He was 60. Rafael was born November 4, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Rafael Delgado Rivera and Paula Gomez. He was a retired US Navy Veteran serving his entire naval career on the US Navy Submarine fleet. A decorated veteran, Rafael earned the enlisted Submarine insignia, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Strategic Deterrent Patrol Pin. He attained the rank of Master Seaman when he was Honorably Discharged from the Navy in Groton, Connecticut. In addition to his naval service, Rafael also served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He is preceded in death by his mother, Paula Gomez. Rafael is survived by his loving wife, Ivette Delgado; his three children, Joan Sepulvuda, Jennifer Marie Delgado and Nichelle Nicole Delgado; his father, Rafael Delgado Rivera; his sister, Minerva Rodriguez; four grandchildren, Michelle, Jusmy, Giovanni and Sora A. Hernandez. He is also survived by one great grandson, Ejibriel. Immediate funeral services are private. Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is serving the family.
