Ralph Sidney Geiger's Obituary
Ralph Sidney Geiger of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14, 2019 following some recent health challenges. He was 87 years old.Ralph was born on June 1, 1931 in Mobile, Alabama, the proud son of Tay (Thomas) and Ralph S. Geiger Jr. He was a Veteran of the United States Army who participated in combat operations during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart for Wounds received during the course of battle. Following his military service, Ralph was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Alabama and later received a Master’s Degree from the University of Florida. He was one of the founders of VIP, the Visually Impaired Persons of Southwest Florida located in North Fort Myers. Ralph was also proud to serve the First Baptist Church of Fort Myers for many years as a Deacon.Ralph is survived by his two sons David and Ralph; four grandchildren and many extended family members. Ralph also leaves behind a number of people he met along life’s path who were proud to call him a friend. Sadly, Ralph was preceded in death by his loving wife Marian who passed away in 2015. Ralph was greatly loved and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.A Memorial Service for Ralph will be celebrated by Pastor David Goins at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 20, 2019 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Friends are welcome to gather and pay their respects to the family for an hour preceding this ceremony beginning at 10:00 AM also inside the funeral home chapel. At the conclusion of these ceremonies, friends and family will recess to adjacent Memorial Gardens Cemetery where Military Honors for Ralph will be conducted by the Harney Point Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8463. Following these honors, Ralph will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife Marian in the Garden of the Good Shepherd.Arrangements for Ralph’s final care have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
