Randal Borges Middleton's Obituary
Randal “Randy” Borges Middleton, 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis D. Middleton, his mother, Claire B. Middleton, and his oldest brother, Louis D. Middleton, Jr. He is survived by his brothers, Carl (Jeanne) Middleton, Steve (Angie) Middleton, Terry (Celeste) Middleton and sister, Beth (Kevin) Schell.
Randy was a lifelong Lee County resident and a proud Fort Myers High School graduate. He was a member of the wrestling team, but he was most passionate about "greenie" football. Randy's obsession with the game did not go unnoticed by the legendary Coach Sam Sirianni, Sr., and as fate would have it, a deep love affair began between Randy, the Sirianni family, and “greenie” football. For the next 50 years, Randy could be seen every Friday night under the lights, cheering on and pumping up his football brothers on the sidelines. His happiest days were spent on the field, and in 2016, he was inducted into the Green Wave’s Emerald Club, the football team’s Hall of Fame. Randy reluctantly stepped down from his final volunteer position as the “get back coach” when his health no longer allowed him to continue.
Randy also worked for Publix Super Markets for 44 years, holding various customer service positions. He rarely missed a day of work and was a loyal and dedicated employee until retirement.
A celebration of Randy’s life will be held at St. Michael Lutheran Church, 3595 Broadway, Fort Myers, on Saturday, August 2, at 11 a.m.
Attendees are encouraged to wear Green Wave colors in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Fort Myers High School football program, earmarked Randy Middleton, to continue supporting the team Randy so deeply loved.
