Raul Vales' Obituary
Raul A. Vales, 89, of Ft. Myers passed away Friday, November 19, 2010. He was born October 13, 1921 to Rita Maria Perez and Jose Vales Leira in Havana, Cuba. An accountant by trade, Raul endured great difficulty while in Cuba where he served 3 years in a mandatory work camp because of his opposition to the Cuban government. He later came to the US in 1968. The King of Dominoes as he was known by his family, Raul was a dedicated and loving father ?Çô a man of great faith in God, his love for the US and baseball ?Çô especially his beloved Red Sox. He was also the best uncle in the world who took particular attention to his nieces and nephews. They will always remember the love he gave to them. He is survived by his 4 loving nieces and nephews Coppelia (Steven) Lipschultz, Isabel Vales, Henry (Song) Gonzalez of Hillsborough, NJ and William (Stephanie) Gonzalez of East Millstone, NJ; 2 cherished grandnephews Sean and Jack Gonzalez. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 50 years Graciela (nee Coll) who passed away in 1993 and his daughter Marta Vales who also passed in 1996. Funeral arrangements were handled by Ft. Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Raul?ÇÖs name to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or Catholic Charities.
