Mr. Pottorf was my principal in 1st grade at Edison Park Elementary - and he and his wife were beloved friends of my parents. I will always remember his kindness to an extremely shy and nervous first grader - and receiving my high school diploma from him - with such a sweet smile and congratulations!
Mr. Ray Pottorf was a wonderful principal who I had the pleasure of having back in the day at Edison Park. I spoke to Mr. Pottorf about one month ago and we have a nice long chat remising. He was a very down to earth educator, wonderful person who I had the honor of knowing when I was a kid and as an adult. He also remembered by parents and
asked about them.
Mr. Pottorf will be remembered always and NEVER forgotten! It was a pleasure and an honor my friend. You will be looking down upon us.
Deepest condolences to the entire Pottorf family. I remember spending time at Mr. and Mrs. Pottorf's home with their granddaughter Barbe. Mr. Pottorf was an incredibly friendly, welcoming man. He has left an indelible legacy on the Fort Myers school system.
I will always remember Mr. Pottorf fondly. He appointed me to the position of assistant principal at Tanglewood Elementary. His dignified, professional manner was an example to all of us…such a positive leader. My condolences to his family.

Ray was such a wonderful man and was a role model for all who worked for him. When I became Superintendent he called and offered support. I called him many times for advice and he always provided me with such wisdom. He will always be "My Hero". He will be missed by all of us.
