Raymond Alan Bocknor's Obituary
Raymond Alan Bocknor, a man of unwavering faith and dedication, passed away on June 7, 2024, in Fort Myers, Florida. Born on January 9, 1945, to Robert and Virginia (Watson) Bocknor in Chicago, IL. Ray lived a life marked by service, compassion, and commitment.
Ray's journey began with his service in the United States Air Force, where he dedicated four years to defending his country. Ray then completed his B.S. in Psychology & Business Administration from USF, & completed various Master's level courses in Theology via Liberty University.
His love for God was evident throughout his life, and he remained steadfast in his faith, finding solace and strength in prayer. He was a longtime active member of Grace Church, Cape Coral, serving in multiple ministries through the years including United Methodist Men, Prayer ministries, PAWS (Pets are Working Saints), Shut-in ministry & as a Stephen Ministry Leader. He completed the Walk to Emmaus #38.
Ray was an avid outdoorsman including fishing, hiking, shooting, and dog and horse enthusiast.
For 35 years, Ray served the Florida Department of Corrections, leaving an indelible mark on the community. His roles were diverse, but it was as the Probation/ Parole Administrator in Circuit 20 that he made a significant impact. His dedication to justice, rehabilitation, and fairness touched countless lives.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Raymond was a devoted husband, father, and friend. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support endeared him to all who knew him. He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of service that will continue to inspire others.
Ray is preceded in passing by his parents, sister Marianne Langford, stepbrother Herbert Watson, and good friend Eddie Wiggins.
Ray leaves his loving memory with his cherished survivors, wife of 36 years Betsy (Beth) of Cape Coral, son Michael Bocknor of Plant City, brother Mark (Janet) Bocknor of Plant City, half-brother Eric (Cathy) Watson of Honoraville, AL, step-brothers James (Della) Watson of Plant City, and Tommy (Denise) Watson of Honoraville, AL, and half-sister- Lori (James) Wiggins of Plant City, Step- Sister Lottie Wiggins of Plant City.
Ray's family has entrusted Fort Myers memorial Gardens with the tender care of his final arrangements. Ray’s funeral service will be held Friday, June 14, 2024, at 1PM with a visitation from 11AM-1PM.
