Raymond Edwin Meyer's Obituary
Raymond Edwin Meyer of Fort Myers Beach, Florida passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on April 1, 2017 following some recent health challenges. He was 83 years old.Raymond was born on August 2, 1933 in Brooklyn New York, the proud son of Evelyn (Draycott) and Otto Meyer. He would affectionately be called the man from Brooklyn known as Opa. He attended Ridgewood High School and the Pratt Institute. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War . He spent his working life in the steel manufacturing industry and retired as the Vice President of his company. He was an active member of the of the Lions Club for many years and spent 43 years as a resident of Wexford, Pennsylvania with shorter stints in Hibbing, Minnesota and Bloomington, Illinois before retiring to Florida.He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Lillian (Schweizer) Meyer, four devoted children and their spouses along with his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a number of extended family members and many more people who were proud to call Raymond a friend.
