Raymond Joseph Walsh's Obituary
Raymond, Joseph Walsh, 77, Chicago native, Mendel Catholic School graduate, passed away suddenly on February 13. 2016. Ray served in the U.S. Army and found the love of his life Barbara Sue Maynard at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. Six weeks after they met, they were married in the chapel with all Ray’s family. When they returned to Chicagoland, Ray served on the Dolton Police Department for 10 years and was injured in the line of duty. Ray and Barb spent some time at her family home in Stockport, Ohio and moved to central Florida in 1982 In 1989 they settled in Fort Myers, where Barb sold real estate and Ray worked for Dixie Buick. He was an active parishioner at The Church of the Resurrection.Ray is survived by his son, Michael Patrick Walsh; foster son Lowell Werner; two nieces Val Walsh-Haines of Cody, Wyoming and Donna Walsh-Taffe; nephew James Walsh of Chicago; three great nephews and a great niece on the west coast. He was preceded in death by Barbara, his sisters who raised him, JoEllen Walsh and Rita Walsh (Don Donaghue) and brother Robert and sister-in-law Patsy.A Funeral Mass for Mr. Walsh will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 20, 2016 inside the Chapel at Church of the Resurrection, 8121 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, Florida 33919, (239) 481-7172.
