Rebecca Mae Ranker's Obituary
Rebecca R. “Becky” Ranker, 105, of Fort Myers, FL passed away at home on May 30, 2017. She was born on May 5, 1912 in Normalville, PA to parents Ida Murray and Aaron Ritenour.Becky is survived by her daughters, Shirley J. Stewart and Linda J. Ranker, son-in-law Russell A. Rocksund, grandchildren Randy E.R. (Lisa) Sloan, Jeanette C. Rumsey, Joanne R. (Kevin) Ley, Justin R. Rocksund, and Andrea Rocksund-Strickland as well as many cherished great grandchildren, family members, and life-long friends. Becky was preceded in death by her parents, 11 siblings, husband Eugene J. Ranker, daughter Antoine C. “Toni” Rocksund, and granddaughter Margo S. Schlotterbeck.A resident of Fort Myers since 1950, Becky attended post-secondary business administration courses in Pennsylvania prior to marrying her husband, Eugene, in 1933. Eugene, purveyor of Ranker Motors in Scottdale, PA, and later, Fort Myers, died in 1954 following a brief illness and hospitalization in Louisiana.Becky was deeply dedicated to enriching the lives of others. Her philanthropic initiatives played a significant role in the ongoing development of LARC (Lee County Association for Remarkable Citizens), where her daughter, Linda, attended for several decades. Her generosity extended to the Lee Health Auxiliary through fifty years of volunteer service; the bulk of which were in the Radiology Department. But her most treasured moments included time spent with her beloved children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.A true nurturer, Becky was a loving spirit who left an indelible mark on those who crossed her path. She was filled with pure joy and radiated warmth and positive energy. Sweet Becky will forever live on in our hearts and minds.Services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, June 2, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be sent to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
