Dear Jamie, Jodie, Kristy, Toni, David,Tina,and all of yours and Dick's extended family. We mourn the loss of Dick with you. From the minute I first met Dick, I knew I would have a lifelong friend. We admired and respected Dick's great sense of humor, his intellect, his service to his country , his genuineness, kindness, but most of all he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother-Dick was truly one of a kind. I got to know him well during the years you were in Rockford. I can't begin to count the number of days that I would call and ask if I could come over to visit. You and Dick were always welcoming. This was particular true during the time of my mom's long hospitalization- and her death.I practically lived at your house-I would shed tears, but then Dick always knew how to make me smile. I remember seeing him at POW/MIA ceremonies-he was usually away by himself with his thoughts. His love of country was so obvious. The fact that you both flew to DC to be with me at Alan's funeral at Arlington is a treasured memory. The world has truly lost a wonderful man. Love, "Boyer" & Ron

Dick could light up any room he walked into. His caring demeanor manifested itself in every avenue of his life. His family, Jamie, Jodie , Kristy, Hannah and Emma were all so lucky to have him in their lives and they all knew it. As friends we can say, we could only aspire to being a friend like Dick. He will be truly missed.

Dick was one of the most wonderful guys I was fortunate enough to know during my High School years! He was probably one of the most, if not THE most popular guy in our class! He was friends with everyone, no matter how popular he was! I’m so glad I was able to have Dick be part of our reunion last year…I told Dick we would stop by to see him next time we were in Florida! So sorry we weren’t able to make it!! Jamie, my heart goes out to you, your daughters and grandchildren May God bless all of you! I’ll keep Dicki in my prayers..🙏🏻🙏🏻

Dick was one of my favorite war heroes…like most he never thought his part in the Vietnam War mattered much, but he was always an amazing leader and ended up sacrificing so much due to Agent Orange. 20 years ago he addressed an Air National Guard Unit just getting ready to deploy to the Gulf War. He told every soldier how proud he was of them and assured them that by sticking together we would succeed and return to our families. He was inspirational and we all knew we would go to war with him if ever asked…here is one final salute to perhaps the finest soldier I know.
