Richard (Dusty) Fontaine's Obituary

Dusty, passed away at Lee Memorial Hospital on Friday, August 12, 2022, following complications from a recent illness. He was 66 years old.
Dusty was born in Hollywood, Florida on July 3, 1956, to Ruby (Healy) and Donald Easton. Dusty’s father passed away when he was very young – his mother later met and married Richard J Fontaine who eventually adopted Dusty. Dusty was moved to Hartford and raised there until the age of 15 when he and his family moved back to Cape Coral, Florida. He attended both Cypress Lake High & North Fort Myers High and Edison College. Proceeding him in death were his parents and his 4 siblings: Donna Jane, Doug, Dane & Donnie. He was deeply devoted and a very loving husband to is wife Dina for 42 years. They had 2 children: Joshua Michael Fontaine & April Michelle [Fontaine] Treacy and 7 grandchildren ; Megan, Gabe, Joshua jr. , Averie, Kaleb, Roisin and Colin. He had numerous nephews and nieces and many who saw him as a Father/Papa /Uncle figure that he leaves with the hope that was in him.
In 1978 Dusty gave his heart to Jesus Christ and devoted the rest of his life to sharing Christ’s love to all he met – he was a great man of faith. He worked with the Salvation Army 12 step program, ran his own 12 Step program, worked with youth groups and Christian Sport programs coaching & led many, many Bible Studies. He gave shelter to those who needed it and befriended all - he gave of his time, attention, and love to others for many years. He was a deacon, elder and finally Pastor of a small church in Cape Coral, The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ.
For most of his life he worked in the Pump/Irrigation business. He successfully ran his own business, “Dusty’s Pump and Sprinklers” for many years until health reasons required him to sell the business and move back into Management in the same field. When he retired this past year, he was Vice President of the Irrigation Department for Greenscapes.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for Dusty will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2022, inside the Sylvan Terrace Section of Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907. Elder Bill Staggs from the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ will begin service at 11:00 AM. Family & Friends are welcome to gather for a half-hour prior to this ceremony at the same location.
