Richard N. Goins' Obituary
Richard (Dick) Goins, 92, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013. Dick was born in Farmersville, Ohio and served in the Navy during VVVVII as a Machinist’s Mate. He then spent 30 years at General Motors Engineering Division as a model builder. He also owned and operated auto repair shops in Lewisburg, Ohio and Miamisburg, Ohio. He was a sixty-five year member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio.Dick moved from Ohio to Fort Myers in 1977 where he later became the manager of the Palm and Pine Mobile Home Park until 2001. Dick was known as the man who could “solve any problem and fix anything or it couldn’t be fixed.” He greatly enjoyed travel and held special fond memories of trips to Alaska, Russia and New Zealand. At age 90, Dick fulfilled a life-long dream by taking flying lessons and mastered trips to Naples, Punta Gorda and other short flights.His first wife, Florence, predeceased him. Dick will be greatly missed by his second wife, Phyllis, his daughter, Sharon (Gary), granddaughter Shelley (Wayne), great-granddaughter Jennifer (Scott), two great great grandsons, and his two stepchildren, Kathleen Hyatt and Richard Sholtys.A memorial service will be held at a later date.
