Richard Duane Hemry's Obituary
Richard Duane Hemry, 87, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away on April 13, 2024. He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on August 24, 1936. Richard, known to many by Duane, was a beloved father, partner and skilled craftsman.
Duane had a fulfilling career as Director of Asset Management at Sears and was instrumental in launching the Discover Card project in 1985.
After retiring in 1993, he pursued his dream of traveling and purchased a boat and sailed for 4 years with his loving partner, Carmen, by his side.
Duane was also passionate about woodworking and crafted beautiful furniture for his friends and loved ones. He enjoyed taking cruises, with the maiden voyage of the Panama Canal being one of his favorite trips.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Teressa (Roberts) Hemry and his brothers Donald and Max and daughter Sherrie. Duane is survived by his long time partner Carmen Cruz, sons Michael (Cindy) and Matthew (Christy), daughters Sandra and Jennifer, 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
A private ceremony to honor Duane will be held in Ohio. He will be remembered for his love of adventure, craftsmanship and dedication to his family. May he rest in peace.
