We lived across the street from Aunt Ann and Uncle Gene for 3 years in Woodbridge, Virginia. It was the only time our children lived near a relative since we were a military family. We all have such fond memories of our time spent with them. Gene will be missed, but our memories will live on.
When I was 11 years old, my dad let me go to visit my uncle Gene near Washington DC. I was there for a few days. He showed me around Washington DC tirelessly. We went to several museums and several memorials. One day we were waiting in line outside at a memorial. It was very hot! People were passing out in line. My uncle waited for two hours with me to see the memorial. I'll never forget that! He was a great man and my favorite uncle! Ron Highfill
