Richard Lee Knight's Obituary
Richard Lee Knight of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully at Lee Memorial Hospital on Thursday, July 16, 2020 following some recent health challenges. He was 86 years old.
Richard was born in Washington, Indiana on November 19, 1933, the proud son to Bonnie (Carpenter) and Walter Knight. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps who deployed for combat duty during the Korean War. Following his military service, Richard attended Purdue University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He spent the majority of his career in the manufacturing sector and worked for several companies that provided parts and technical support for automotive applications. Richard was a Master Mason; he loved downhill skiing, tennis, golf & boating and was an active member of the SW Florida Symphony Society.
He was the loving husband to Linda M. (Nelson) Knight whom he leaves to cherish his memory. Richard also leaves behind his son Randy, stepchildren Rob, Jeff and Denise; brother Roy; sister Linda and his grandchildren Austin, Courtney, Madison, Brian & Mason.
Immediate funeral services are private and due to ongoing pandemic, no memorial service is scheduled at this time. Arrangements for Richard's final care have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. In lieu of flowers, the family instead suggests that donations in memory of Richard be directed to Saint Cecilia Catholic Community, 5632 Sunrise Drive, Fort Myers, Florida 33919, (239) 936-3635.
