Richard Lawhon's Obituary
Richard Lawhon passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife Susie “LIBBY” Lawhon at his side. A viewing will be held at the First Christian Church at 2061 McGregor Blvd. Thursday, March 26th from 6pm to 8pm.Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 27th at 1pm at First Christian Church at 2061 McGregor Blvd. with burial to follow in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following graveside services to celebrate Richards’s life with a Bar-B-Que at Janeen & Joes home.Richard left behind 5 daughters – Darlene(Tom) Murphy, Marlene (Clyde) Willems, Colleen (Alvin) Chapman, Laurine (Larry) Belanger, Janeen (Joe) Pledger, 15 Grandchildren & 15 Great Grandchildren, 2 Brothers – Edward (Carol) Lawhon, Donnie (Norma) Lawhon, preceded in death are his mother, Morning Singletary, his father, Lawlon Lawhon, brother & sister in-law, Kenneth & June Lawhon, grandsons, Jamie Roberts & Mark Willems.Richard was born & raised in Fort Myers. One of his loves was his grocery stores he started in 1958 L&S #2 and then in 1976 started Lawhon’s Grocery & Meats on Bayshore Rd where he was voted the HONORARY MAYOR OF NORTH FORT MYERS, and President of the Morning Liars Club where he held council. He loved all his customers, family & friends and would do anything for them. His Grocery stores were his life’s work. People would stop by Lawhon’s to here his jokes and get daily neighborhood news. He stood a stout 5’5′ wearing rolled up dungarees & short sleeved cowboy shirt, & a Stetson hat, but people that knew him thought he was 10 feet tall. Dad, you will be missed by mom, your daughters and all your family & friends.
