Richard A. Martin's Obituary
Richard A. Martin, 87 of Ft. Myers, Fl. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 in Ft. Myers, Fl. surrounded by his family. He was born October 22, 1931 in Hancock, NY; son of the late Ralph and Neva (Whitaker) Martin, and predeceased by his sister, Helen Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis, with whom he shared 31 years of marriage.Dick was a Navy Veteran, longtime Chrysler‐Plymouth‐Dodge dealer in Deposit, NY, Rotarian, Tomar Mountain Gun Club and Hancock Speculators Club member, as well as former president of Coach Light Manor Association (FL). He was a lifelong sports enthusiast; excelling at football, baseball, and basketball for Hancock HS; followed by many years of bowling and golf (Founding member of Hancock GC). While in Florida, he loved a good game of Dominos, puzzles and a trip to his favorite pub at the flea market; along with his front row seat at every FGCU Girls/Boys college basketball home game, and NY & SF Giant games on TV.In addition to his wife, he is survived by his nine devoted children, twelve grandchildren, and four great grandchildren: Robert S. Martin (Mary Lou), Blaine Martin (Maribeth) and Trevor. Sandra Martin Greenman (Edwin Jr.), Joshua Greenman (Joanna), twins Zoey Marie and Emelia Joy; Jessica Carson (Nick), Lucas. Robert E. Schaeffer (Cathy), Karen, Cory, Jason and Katherine. Jeffrey O. Schaeffer (Rhona), Christopher and Danielle. Michael V. Schaeffer (AnnMarie), Michael (Christina), Thomas and Mariah. Donald P. Schaeffer. Douglas C. Schaeffer (Lisa), Grady. Lori C. Schaeffer‐Scalise, Hannah and Olivia. Phillip D. Schaeffer (Amanda), Abby.
