Richard Arthur Mays' Obituary
Richard Arthur Mays of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Sunday, December 20, 2020 following some recent health challenges. He was 82 years old.
Richard was born in Jeffersonville, Indiana on June 1, 1938, the proud son to Esther (Pangburn) and James Mays. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and following his military service spent his career in the building and construction trades as a carpenter. He was the loving husband to his first wife Shirley C. Mays who sadly preceded him in death back in 1999. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved second wife, Amy Joanne (Roebuck) Lamb; daughter Doreen Adler (John); son Richard J. Mays; grandchildren Allyson Danielson, Jeremy Mays and Hannah Mays; great-grandson Braxton Danielson; step-daughter Christina Lamb and a large extended family. He also leaves behind a great number of others whom he met on life's pathway and were proud to call him a friend. He will be loving missed and fondly remembered by all he knew.
Richard was a long-standing member of Buckingham Presbyterian Church and his Graveside Service for will be celebrated by Pastor Rev. Dr. Randy Moody, at 12:00 Noon inside the Christus Garden Section located at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33907. At the conclusion of this service, Richard will be laid to rest alongside his dearly departed first wife Shirley.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Richard's memory be made instead to Buckingham Presbyterian Church or the Gulf Coast Humane Society.
