Richard L. Mirr's Obituary
Richard Lawrence Mirr, 92, of Fort Myers, passed away on February 10, 2026, after a long life of adventure, building, designing, thinking, story telling and helping others.
Richard was born to Anton and Marguerite Mirr in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on April 30 1933. Richard was preceded in death by the love of his life Maycel Waverly Mirr. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert Mirr and Jim Mirr; and sisters, Barbara Ann Heinrich, and Shirley Mirr.
Richard started working at 10 years of age, enrolled in the Army during the Korean War after graduating high school in 1951, married the love of his life and lifelong companion in 1954 and immediately enrolled as an engineering student at the University of Wisconsin. The first of his family to graduate from college, Richard went on to co-found Correct Maintenance Corporation, that would employ and support many of his relatives and families.
Of all of his many achievements, perhaps his greatest was his marriage and lifetime of love and adventure with his wife, Maycel Mirr, that lasted 70 years.
While moving around early in life with three young children, in 1964, they ended up in Ogden Dunes, Indiana where Dick started the Correct Maintenance Corporation. Dick would then retire to Fort Myers, Florida, in 1990, where they have lived for the past 34 years and developed enduring friendships.
Richard is survived by his children and their spouses: Derek Mirr and Betty Mirr (Ft. Myers, FL), Douglas Mirr and Laura Mirr (Elkhart, IN), and Ken Mirr and Julie Mirr (Denver, CO), his grandchildren Elizabeth Wysocki, Allen Mirr, Meggan Dougherty, Haley Mirr, Hannah Mirr, Robert Mirr, Allison Kimbrough, Jessica Mirr, Brandon Mirr, Ambica Mirr, and 11 Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM, with entombment to follow.
